Instead of submitting a history radiobuttons-based form each time to find/bisect the source of the changes that interest you through trial-and-error, you can just slide the start/end sliders with the "Compare any two revisions" feature, and it shows you the diff "live". A faster and much more pleasant UX, that could potentially go hand-in-hand with the recent changes "freshness indicator" of a page triggering the timeline view (like Google Documents does, to a certain extent; it does have live preview of the various versions).
